A barrel sauna is the backyard traditional sauna most people picture: a horizontal cylinder in cedar or hemlock, heated by an electric or wood-burning stove to a proper 160-190F loyly. The round shape circulates heat with less air volume to warm than a square cabin. Amazon's barrel selection is real but shallow — one premium cedar line (the Backyard Discovery Paxton) plus a field of Canadian-hemlock factory kits — so the buying decision is mostly wood, heater type and who installs it.

What to buy first

How the category divides
A barrel sauna decision comes down to three forks that actually change the buy:
