Read this as orientation, not instructions: wiring a 240V sauna heater is a job for a licensed electrician, full stop. A sauna heater combines high current, heat, water and a wooden room, which is exactly the combination electrical and fire codes exist to control. Why this is licensed-electrician work

The dedicated circuit and the breaker

A sauna heater needs its own dedicated circuit— a home run from the panel that serves the heater and nothing else. It cannot share with lights, outlets or another appliance, because it needs the full, uninterrupted capacity of that circuit. The breaker protecting it is sized to the heater's rated current, which your electrician calculates from the stove's nameplate and the Code — a bigger kW heater means a heavier circuit and a larger breaker. This is the single biggest reason a smaller heater is a cheaper install: less current means lighter cable and a smaller breaker. Wire gauge, GFCI and a disconnect

Three more decisions sit in an electrician's hands, not a homeowner's. The wire gauge (cable thickness) is matched to the breaker and the load — too thin and it overheats, and the correct size is a Code calculation, not a guess. GFCI or ground-fault protectionmay be required depending on the installation and your local code — relevant anywhere current, heat and moisture meet — and where it applies, it's not a detail to skip. And most installations need a disconnecting means: a way to cut power to the heater for service without going back to the main panel. The controller and the temperature sensor

The permit and the inspection

Wiring is only half the safety picture
